<p>I&#8217;ve decided to return to something I had been neglecting for a while: technology. Back in the day I was heavily involved in the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Information_technology" target="_blank">IT </a>field but then I got out of it just as everything was starting to connect together. It came to my attention a few years ago that the web was changing. My first notice of this was when I first noticed that my new web browser (an early version of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefox" target="_blank">Firefox</a>) had a Latest Headlines button that showed the latest headlines on BBC News when clicked on. Hmmm&#8230;. This was my first notice of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS" target="_blank">RSS</a>. Later I started blogging and noticed RSS all over the place like on Blogger and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MySpace" target="_blank">MySpace</a>.</p>
<p>Now the web is becoming more interactive. I&#8217;m old school. I still remember browsing the web with <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynx_%28web_browser%29" target="_blank">lynx </a>in a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telnet" target="_blank">telnet </a>session&#8212;all text with no pictures. I still remember the first time I used <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mosaic_%28web_browser%29" target="_blank">Mosaic </a>and saw what a web page with images looked like. It was all I wanted the old <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulletin_board_system" target="_blank">BBS </a>systems to be but they never got there. I still remember the first time background images appeared in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netscape_%28web_browser%29" target="_blank">Netscape</a>. Then there was Java and Javascript. I still remember when hotmail was the first web based e-mail program.</p>
<p>We&#8217;ve come a long way since then. Now we have blogs, feeds, podcasts, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twitter" target="_blank">tweets</a>, myspace pages, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Facebook" target="_blank">facebook </a>profiles, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki" target="_blank">wiki</a>&#8217;s, and about a million other things that make the web more interactive and interesting. Welcome to<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_2.0" target="_blank"> Web 2.0</a>. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_1.0" target="_blank">Web 1.0</a> is dead. Long live <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_2.0" target="_blank">Web 2.0</a> (until web 3.0 comes out).</p>
